Gigondas

Composed of 75 percent Grenache and 25 percent Syrah and vinified nearly all on whole cluster fruit, this wine showcases the defining qualities of a southern blend that benefits from older vines grown at altitude, aged in foudre and tank. Its character — juicy, vibrant, fresh, harmonious, with refined, integrated tannins — sets it apart from other heavier, more tannic wines of the region. This distinction is a constant, regardless of the wine’s particular nuances that are inspired by the character of each vintage. The wine’s ability to evolve harmoniously over time allows it to gain complexity without losing its core essence of freshness and vibrancy

Gigondas, La Font de Tonin

This great wine is the worthy representative of the “mountain” of Gigondas. Composed of 80 percent Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre, this dense, structured, textured yet fresh wine captures fully the character of grapes produced by our oldest vines, growing on the limestone scree at the base of the Dentelles de Montmiral, between 300 and 500 meters in altitude. It too is vinified on whole clusters. ‘Le Font de Tonin,’ completely aged in barrel (a small part of which is new oak), shortly after bottling shows no marked presence of wood at all, revealing a wine that is powerful and rich yet pure and fresh, wrapped in smooth tannins. Its ability to evolve beautifully over the years is remarkable.

Vacqueyras

We select fruit from three separate parcels, located on a garrigue-covered plateau north of the village of Vacqueyras. Unlike our other blends, our Vacqueyras is made up of 50 percent Grenache, some Syrah and a small portion of Mourvèdre. These last two grapes help avoid a feeling of heaviness or sweetness in the wine, sensations that unfortunately can sometimes mark a wine of such volume and density. It needs at least five years in the bottle for its structured tannins to mellow and refine.

Beaumes-de-Venise

Of all our vineyards, the plots in Beaumes de Venise receive the most sun. Grenache grown here is the perfect base for a wine that is ripe and delicious, equally charming in its aromas and its perfumes. This charm is expressed above all through the wine’s pure expression of fruit, while avoiding any overripe or cooked flavors that these sun-kissed vineyards could easily inspire.

Les Amis de la Bouïssière Vin de France

A fresh, agreeable and easy-to-drink wine that still retains the character of our land and the care with which we make it. It is a classic “vin de table,” a blend of “exotic” grape varieties Merlot and Caladoc with native Syrah, grown on lesser terroirs but enjoying the same respect we give all our other crus: careful vine cultivation, lowered yields, whole cluster vinification. There’s no need to age it to “improve” it (although it certainly could age), enjoy this wine with friends today.
